Listing Agreement: A contract between a seller and a real estate broker that gives the broker the right to sell the home. The contract describes everything from what is included in the home sale to agent compensation. It lays out the terms of how the real estate agent can promote a home, including the use of MLS, internet marketing, lockbox, and for-sale signs. There may also be clauses that adhere to Equal Opportunity Housing, attorney fees, and dispute resolution and mediation.
